Hi! I’m Sara. I’m a qualified psychotherapist and am passionate about supporting clients to get the most out of therapy so they can feel more at ease in their own lives.
Thank you for taking a look at this website – I hope it’s giving you a sense of how I work and why I think counselling is such a useful process for us all, whatever life looks like, and not only when we reach rock bottom. In fact, as a client, I’ve had some really helpful ‘aha’ moments when I’m feeling pretty good about life, when I have the capacity to think a bit deeper, gain clarity, or dream a bit bigger! As a therapist, I’m here to accompany you wherever you are, and however good or bad life feels.
I believe that everyone can benefit from a bit of help to get through the hard stuff – whether you’ve never even considered getting counselling before now, or have already recognised its importance in helping you live a fulfilling, meaningful life, it would be an honour to support you.
Core training: Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (University of Lancashire, 2025, Level 7). As part of my training I did a placement with West Cumbria Carers Support.
Continued Professional Development:
As a member of BACP I commit to undertaking regular professional training, in person and online.
Recent courses include:
- Working creatively with postcards (Lesley Kollikho, October 2025)
- Forest bathing for mental wellness (Lee White, September 2025)
- How to Work with Anxiety using a Single-Session Mindset (Windy Dryden, September 2025)
Relevant previous training:
COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills – Level 3 (2023)
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Counselling Skills certificate (2022)
Cruse Bereavement Support Foundation Course (2020)
Creative connections: I’m passionate about supporting people to bring more creativity into their daily life and to feel confident about being a creative person. I believe that we are all creative beings, even if we don’t recognise it, and that creativity is for everybody and vital to a fulfilled, meaningful life. I also know that even for people who are paid to be creative, it’s easy to feel not good enough, or like an impostor. I love exploring with people how to shift these feelings into a healthier relationship with creative work. In addition to one to one work with clients on this theme, I offer in person and online ‘Creative confidence’ group workshops to organisations or peer groups/networks on this topic – get in touch to find out more. I have many years of teaching experience including adult education, community evening classes, workshops in nurseries, primary and secondary schools, and undergraduate university teaching.
As well as being a psychotherapist, I am a community music practitioner. I primarily work with young children, parents, and families, using music, song and movement to enhance well-being, bonding, and community connection. Taking time to be in nature and the outdoors is another important part of my life and also informs my work with clients.
Free support:
Because I believe therapy should be available for everyone, I do pro-bono counselling for Cumberland Carers and am a Bereavement Support Volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support. If you are a carer or looking for bereavement support, take a look at what they offer. Other ways to access free counselling include talking to your GP about options, and other specialist charities – see this blog post for some ideas.
